SAS (News - Alert) has ported its data integration, business intelligence and analytics software to Sun’s Solaris 10 Operating System running on x64 servers.

Customers can now easily use data mining and data integration products in a grid-enabled environment. The added functionality also improves productivity and performance by consolidating SAS business intelligence applications to maximize server usage.

Taking full advantage of the AMD dual-core Opteron processor, the Sun x64 server line delivers enhanced performance and manageability for BI applications running on Sun’s Solaris 10 operating system.

Collaborative engineering and cooperative agreement between the two companies not only keep the performance of SAS’ software optimized on Sun servers, but also ensure hassle-free implementation of an integrated software and hardware solution for customers.

“Addressing our customer’s business and technology needs is of utmost important to us, which is why we are happy to give our Solaris 10 customers a choice in deployment platforms,” said Keith Collins, chief technology officer at SAS in a press release.

“The new features of Solaris 10 are well-suited for the SAS Enterprise Intelligence Platform on SAS9,” he added.

SAS made news last week when it was selected by the Coastal Federal Credit Union to curb money laundering.

SAS Money Laundering Detection will enable Coastal Federal Credit Union to help fortify its anti-money laundering (AML) program and adhere to the regulations of the USA PATRIOT Act.
