Printing firm Cambrian launches digital division

(Daily Post (Liverpool) Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) ABERYSTWYTH printing company Cambrian Printers has launched a new division to focus on digital printing and incorporate all existing digital print work.

Central to the new department is an investment in an HP Indigo 5000 press which is capable of versional prints, variable data, high resolution, short run, six colour, litho quality printing.

Sales development director Carrick Wilkie said the company hoped to substantially increase its revenues over the next five years through the creation of its Cambrian Digital division.

He added: "The HP Indigo 5000 press will enable us to widen our range of services - we have already had a lot of interest from customers who want to understand how digital printing can offer greater opportunities for their products, which are currently produced on our litho presses.

"We hope to utilise the HP Indigo 5000 press for variable data within six months - allowing the customer to create individualised printed material."

The company's systems and technical manager Norman Faulkner said: "Digital printing is much better for the environment as it creates less paper waste and uses fewer chemicals in the process.

"Ninety per cent of our waste is recycled and with digital printing the total waste material is noticeably lower. We can print an exact number of copies without any pre-press waste at all - for short runs this is both cost-effective and hugely efficient."

Established in 1860, Cambrian Printers is a family-owned business.
