i2 to Develop Supply Chain Analytics Solution for Advanced Business Intelligence Capabilities

DALLAS --(Business Wire)-- i2 Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:ITWO) today announced it has furthered its strategic alliance with Microsoft Corp. to jointly develop i2 Intelligence, a supply chain analytics solution, on the Microsoft technology platform.

As a part of this alliance, i2 and Microsoft will jointly develop i2's world-class, supply chain management solutions on the Microsoft.NET Framework, integrating with the Microsoft Office System and a number of other key Microsoft technologies, including 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Microsoft(R) Windows Server(R) 2003, Microsoft(R) SQL Server(TM)and Microsoft(R) Office SharePoint Server. The i2 Intelligence solution will utilize the Microsoft Office suite as the primary user interface.

The collaboration brings together Microsoft(R) Office PerformancePoint Server 2007, the Microsoft business intelligence (BI) technology and i2 new-generation supply chain management solutions to create an actionable BI and analytics solution that will provide businesses with the ability to better understand the impact of supply chain management decisions.

"This collaboration with i2 is part of our larger strategy to develop industry solutions that amplify the impact of people within manufacturing organizations to drive business success," said Charles Johnson, managing director of Microsoft's Worldwide Manufacturing Industry Solutions Group. "People can use their familiar technology environments to interact with business applications and access information specific to their roles, helping their companies save time and money while improving supply-chain decision-making."

The joint development project between Microsoft and i2 is intended go beyond capabilities found in traditional business intelligence, which focus on simply providing information to users. i2 Intelligence is being developed to provide a view of multi-enterprise information, interpret the data and present understanding into underlying problems and potential opportunities that may exist. Managers are faced with many complex decisions each day. The solution will be designed to help identify the cause of supply chain disruptions and various courses of action leading to a resolution. i2 Intelligence is intended to empower decision makers to understand complex supply chain problems and make better, more rapid decisions than they can today.

i2 Intelligence builds on more than six years of accumulated learnings from working with customers in implementing supply chain analytics solutions. The solution will contain a pre-defined library of supply chain specific reports and KPIs. In addition, the solution will bring a more holistic approach to supply chain analytics with a multi-disciplinary view of data and processes. This solution is designed for i2 customers and non-i2 customers with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle and Microsoft Dynamics.

"We are committed to bring advanced analytics and business intelligence solutions to our customers on a familiar, pervasive and affordable technology," said Michael McGrath, i2 Chief Executive Officer. "By working together with Microsoft, we are now able to bring to market innovative solutions that turn information into actionable intelligence allowing users to make better, faster and more impactful decisions."
