Sonaecom appointment: Ms Loyola de Palacio (Sonaecom: Loyola de Palacio, consejera)(Expansion Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) Ms Loyola de Palacio, the former agriculture minister under the previous Spanish government and also the former European commissioner for transport and energy, has been appointed to the board of directors of Portuguese group Sonaecom. Sonaecom, which is controlled by magnate Belmiro de Azevedo, owns mobile operator Optimus and has launched a takeover bid for telecoms group Portugal Telecom.
