RETAILERS PUSH UP GOA LAND PRICES (the land value in Goa has shot up with average prices of Rs2,500-3,000 per sq ft having doubled)


(India Business Insight Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) Goa is expected to witness an influx of major brands, with real estate companies like DLF, Gera Developers and Parasvanath planning to set up office-cum-shopping malls in the State. Branded retailers are also contemplating exclusive showrooms in Goa.



On account of this, the land value in Goa has shot up with average prices of Rs2,500-3,000 per square foot having doubled. In Panjim, prices have increased fivefold. The land prices are expected to increase further in the next ten years.

Goa got a brand image from the hosting of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Dec 2004. Cafe Coffee Day (CCD) is planning to shift its regional head office for Karnataka and Goa from Mangalore to Goa.


It also plans to open more outlets in the State. Subway has decided to add six more outlets to its existing outlet at Baga Beach.
