Adaptive Digital Announces Free Demo Download, Open-Source G.PAK(TM) - A Reference VoIP DSP Application
PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa., Sept. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Adaptive Digital Technologies (Adaptive Digital), has made its open-source G.PAK technology accessible by offering a free demonstration download. The free offering will allow users to build a custom digital signal processor (DSP) application in mere minutes using Texas Instruments Incorporated's Code Composer Studio(TM) Integrated Development Environment (IDE) in conjunction with the Windows(R)\- based Open G.PAK configuration tool. Open G.PAK bridges the gap between inflexible fixed-function chips and custom programmed solutions.
Adaptive Digital's Open G.PAK(TM) is a GUI configurable, open-source reference application, which enables designers to build software for VoIP Gateways, PBXs, and access devices. The downloadable Open G.PAK demo runs on either the TI low-cost TMS320C6416 DSP Starter Kit (DSK) or the TI TMS320DM642 Evaluation Module (EVM). The demonstration walks the user through configuring a DSP image, downloading it, and running it with real-time voice input and output. To obtain the free demo, users should go to http://opengpak.adaptivedigital.com/ and click on "Free Download". Then click on "Demonstrations" and download the demonstration titled "Open G.PAK C64x DSP generation." Documentation is included.
The G.PAK(TM) product in its original conception consisted of two components: the VoIP DSP software and a Windows-Based configuration utility. The VoIP DSP software includes all the DSP functionality necessary for most VoIP applications from IP gateways to IP phones. A typical G.PAK configuration may include echo cancellation, tone detection and generation, conferencing and a variety of voice codecs. By including only the components, channel types, and peripherals required by a specific application, the G.PAK generates a cost-effective, customer specific, downloadable DSP software image.
By making the Open G.PAK(TM) download available to developers, Adaptive Digital has empowered them to take control of the DSP application; allowing them to modify the fully tested G.PAK code themselves. This gives users a remarkable head start in their application development.
