NFL Net Back on Time Warner

(Multichannel News Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) Washington In response to a Federal Communications Commission order, Time Warner Cable early Friday restored NFL Network to about 1 million former Comcast Corp. and Adelphia Communications Corp. subscribers who lost the channel earlier in the week, when they became Time Warner customers.



The channel appears in the same position and tier as it did before it was removed three days earlier, Time Warner Cable senior vice president of corporate communications Mark Harrad said in a statement.

On Thursday, the FCC ordered reinstatement of NFL Network, finding that Time Warner appeared to violate the rule that subscribers must get 30 days notice about a channel deletion under normal circumstances. The National Football League also filed a complaint with the agency that also discussed its difficult carriage talks with Time Warner.



Because we still do not have a contract with the NFL Network, we have also begun the official 30 day-notification period with an on-screen crawl that began running last night at midnight alerting our customers that the network may be withdrawn again should we not be able to conclude an agreement with the NFL Network, Harrad said.

The FCC order was handed down by Media Bureau chief Donna Gregg.

Time Warner Cable believes that the Media Bureaus order is wrong as a matter of law. Accordingly, last night we filed papers with the FCC appealing the order to the full Commission, Harrad said.

You might consider picking up a ball, a somewhat easy task. But when you're asked to do it by building a robot first, the job probably doesn't seem quite as easy. This was the task that the Northern Lights Robotics Team was asked to accomplish this past year for the annual FIRST Competition. FIRST, is For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology. The competition brings teams from all over the country, who also build similar robots. The Northern Lights Team took 16th out of 54 teams this year, and today they were in Dakota Square Mall starting preparations for next year's competition. Members wanted to showcase what they built, but they were also hoping to gain some interest. And we're here to recruit new members, maybe get some people involved, anyone who can help or just want to be part of the team.
