IBM Unveils New Office Printers

IBM this week introduced two new color laser printers to its line of office products— Infoprint 1654 Express and Infoprint 1664.


 
Key features of the new printers are outlined below.


 
Infoprint 1654
  • Prints up to 25 letter-size pages per minute
  • Enhanced processor and memory
  • 1200x1200 dots-per-inch (dpi) Color Care Technology resolution
  • Workgroup compatibility
Infoprint 1664
  • Prints up to 25 letter-size pages per minute
  • Uses multiple layers of security for document confidentiality
  • On-printer connection for USB flash memory devices
 In a press release, IBM (News - Alert) noted that it designed the new printers with both security and management in mind.
 
“The new models we’re introducing offer clients a leading-edge combination of speed, security, image quality and cost effectiveness -- providing them with the opportunity to truly reinvent their approach to office printing,” said Doug Oathout, vice president of IBM Printing Systems, in a statement.
 
Both printers will be available in the United States and Canada starting August 11, 2006, IBM said.
