2006 TOP CONTRACTORS
(Retail Traffic Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) Building retail space remains a lucrative and growing business. Retail Traffic's annual listing of the industry's top contractors received more than 130 entries this year a jump of more than 20 companies over last year's rankings. Of those that provided detailed numbers, 31 built more than 1 million square feet of shell space and 38 firms completed more than 1 million square feet of interior space.
Baltimore-based Whiting Turner Contracting Co. topped both lists this year, building more than 17 million square feet of both shell space and interior space during 2005.
In the following pages of listings you will find information on every contractor that responded to our survey, including how much shell and interior construction the firms have completed in the past five years and what percentage of their overall business retail real estate construction represents.
We hope you find our listing useful as a resource.
Retail Traffic's rankings are based on total interior and shell space built last year through Dec. 31. The rankings include companies that responded to an online survey posted on our Web site, retailtrafficmag.com, for more than a month. We also contacted companies via phone and e-mail. Still, not every contractor responded. If your company is not included, and you think it should be, please contact dbodamer@retailtrafficmag.com with the appropriate information and we will add it to an updated online version of this list. That way, we will also be sure to include you in our 2007 rankings.
