Okmetic Oyj signs technology agreement with NorSun AS

(Nordic Business Report Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) The Finnish silicon wafers processing company Okmetic Oyj said on Thursday (6 July) that it has signed a technology agreement with Norwegian solar energy solutions company NorSun AS, a subsidiary of technology group SCATEC AS.



Under the agreement NorSun will establish a solar wafer manufacturing facility in Norway which uses Okmetic's technology. As part of the arrangements NorSun will participate in increasing Okmetic's crystal growth capacity in Vantaa, Finland by investing in production machinery. The total investment in the expansion of Okmetic's Vantaa facilities will amount to some EUR10m, of which Okmetic's share will be around EUR2.7m.

For Okmetic the project will be worth around EUR15m over three years.



One euro (EUR) is worth approximately 0.69 British pounds (GBP).
