WJ Communications Launches Industry's Smallest Form Factor Gen2 UHF RFID Reader Module for the Korean Handheld Market
SAN JOSE, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- June 29, 2006 -- WJ Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ:WJCI), a leading designer and supplier of RF solutions for the wireless infrastructure and RFID reader markets, today announced the availability of the WJR7090, a highly scalable, high-performance, and easy to integrate Gen2 UHF RFID reader module for the Korean handheld and mobile market. Packaged in a PCMCIA Type II PC card format, the WJR7090 is currently the smallest form factor available today, and is ISO18000-6B, ISO18000-6C (Gen2) and Class 1 compliant. The WJR7090, with its serial interface, is designed to offer maximum read range in applications such as handhelds, printers, forklift readers, portal readers, and other mobile devices to enable RFID functionality.

Product Overview
The 1.0-Watt WJR7090 reader module and operates over the Korean UHF frequency band (910-914 MHz) and includes the RF, digital circuitry and embedded firmware required for Class 1 Gen1 ISO18000-6C (UHF Gen2) and ISO 18000-6B international standards. The WJR7090 is designed to support Multiple Reader Environment (MRE) mode and leverages the common PCMCIA Type II package with 3.3V CMOS levels (up to 5V) serial communications. This module is designed for a PCMCIA Type II socket wired for serial communications and to be operated via a WJ provided Graphical User Interface (GUI) program. WJ's WJR7090 reader module's simple but powerful command set allows for fast creation of custom applications via an open-source DLL.
