Thailand: Smart cards for all Thais will be ready by 2008

(Thai Press Reports Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) Section: General News - The government is speeding up the Smart card issuance to cover all provinces nationwide with the deadline set to be by 2008. The Deputy Director General of the Local Administration Department Suwat Tanprawat told responsible officials who gathered at a meeting to get accurate knowledge on the procedure in Phuket. They comprised officials from 12 southern provinces. The Smart card or multi purpose card contains all personal data for individual such as birth, marriage, education and more.
