M2M Connectivity Leader Quatech Introduces RoHS-compliant Products
HUDSON, Ohio --(Business Wire)-- June 21, 2006 -- Quatech Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of DPAC Technologies Corp. (OTCBB:DPAC) and a leader in 802.11 wireless machine-to-machine (M2M) connectivity solutions, today announced the release of several products that now comply with the European Union Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances (RoHS), which restricts the use of harmful substances such as lead in new equipment.
Quatech's industry-leading line of 802.11b/g wireless device server modules and external wireless device servers are the first RoHS-compliant products released. Many of the products in the Device Connectivity product family, including Serial PCMCIA Cards and PCI Serial Boards, are also now fully compliant. Quatech is collaborating with its suppliers to comply with the European Union Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment ("RoHS") Directive (2002/95/EC) that takes effect July 1, 2006. The RoHS directive prohibits the sale of electronic equipment containing certain hazardous substances such as lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls ("PBB") and polybrominated diphenylethers ("PBDE") in the European Union.
