Critical Links Adds Network Access Control To All in One Innovative Networking Device edgeBOX
New Features Bring Protected Complete Network Services to Booming SME Market
At CommunicASIA, award-winning edgeBOX to enable Asian Service Providers to Deliver Easy to Manage, Low TCO Converged Network Services to SMEs and Branch Offices.

Singapore, June 19th, 2006 Critical Links, an international networking technology company, is introducing the first NAC-enabled edgeBOX at CommunicASIA, (Hall 5/F4-09, 20-23 June, Singapore). The award-winning edgeBOX 4.0 is an innovative and cost-effective networking device providing complete converged voice and data network services for SMEs and Branch Offices.

The new Network Access Control (NAC) enabled edgeBOX devices bring state of the art protection to customers corporate networks by controlling which users and computers can have access. The new features add enourmous value to a device that can provision, support and maintain voice and data services such as a fully featured IP-PBX and VoIP gateway, security, QoS, collaboration, WiFi, router and file storage.

The new Network Access Control (NAC) enabled edgeBOX devices to bring state of the art protection to customers corporate networks by controlling which users and computers can have access.

The new NAC features enable the edgeBOX to force authentication and enforce security policies at the edge for LAN, VPN, and Wireless infrastructure before granting access to the corporate network. Authentication is provided through embedded or remote RADIUS policy server, LDAP or Active Directory and access control policies can be enforced with great flexibility.

The new NAC featuresreinforce the edgeBOX claim of placing intelligence at the edge of the network, fully controlled from the center. stresses Mr. João Carreira, Critical Links CEO. The edgeBOX can now identify users and grant them access to specific locations and/or resources using sophisticated network access policies

edgeBOX has been identified as a key player in the emerging Business Gateway market by leading analyst house InStat and won the Best Broadband Appliance award at the World Broadband Forum in 2005. It has now been selected a finalist by IDG Communications Techworld for its 2006 Small Business Product of the Year.

edgeBOX is an all in one intelligent networking device allowing SMEs and remote branch offices to benefit from the latest converged networking technologies without the need for specialist in-house IT knowledge. Reseller partners can deliver everything an SME or Enterprise Branch Office (EBO) needs in one integrated platform, at a lower cost of ownership, yet without compromising security, scalability or ease of management.

edgeBOX addresses a growing market opportunity for Telcos and ISPs to deliver value-added managed services to their business broadband customers, increasing per subscriber revenues and providing customer retention

When deployed at the edge of a customers network, edgeBOX allows a Managed Service Provider to remotely provision, support and maintain voice and data services such as a fully featured IP-PBX and VoIP gateway, security, QoS, collaboration, WiFi, router and file storage.

edgeBOX addresses a growing market opportunity for Telcos and ISPs to deliver value-added managed services to their business broadband customers, increasing per subscriber revenues and providing customer retention. It was recently unveiled in several european markets, following successful launches in Brazil, China, India, Portugal, Chile and South Africa.

This multi-function server device, or business gateway as it has been defined, helps SMEs to run converged services such as data, voice, security, QoS, storage and collaboration out of a single box, stressed Mr. João Carreira, CEO of Critical Links. Our experience from launching the solution in markets around the globe shows that edgeBOX is well positioned to capture a significant share of this market through its unique systems approach and combination of features, price and channel strategy.

edgeBOX Version 4.0 available incorporating fully featured IP-PBX and VoIP gateway
edgeBOX provides an affordable, secure and QoS assured platform for VoIP deployment in small and medium sized businesses. It includes a feature rich IP-PBX based on Asterisk and a VoIP gateway using Digium's analogue and digital interface cards, also supporting Digium's latest echo cancellation cards (the TE411P).

Configuration of the IP-PBX is performed through the same easy-to-use web based interface that is used to control all the services on edgeBOX. Features include IVR, ACD, Least cost routing, ENUM, call forwarding (optionally to email), call conferencing and queuing, DID, digital receptionist, incoming call routing and user management with call permissions. The PSTN gateway supports PRI and BRI for connecting digital lines and FXO/FXS for connecting analogue.

Other new features provide additional user management and security facilities such as the ability to use edgeBOX as a Primary Domain Controller or Workgroup server with the possibilities of local or remote authentication and authorisation; one-stop user setup with all login, email and VoIP details configured in one go; a DMZ incorporated in the firewall; support for new IPSec VPN encryption and authentication (AES/ SHA1 / SHA2) and new WPA and 802.1x authentication for wireless networking. The user interface has also been upgraded, online help has been added and overall performance has been improved.
