Celebrated Wine Writer Dan Berger Joins Appellation America; As Editor-At-Large Berger to Tackle Larger Issues of Terroir in North America

SAN FRANCISCO --(Business Wire)-- June 15, 2006 -- Appellation America today announced the appointment of Dan Berger to the position of Editor-at-Large for the Internet-based wine portal http://wine.appellationamerica.com/ and publication. Berger, one of America's most celebrated wine writers and experienced observers of the international wine industry, will focus his regular articles and columns at AppellationAmerica.com on the emergence and redefinition of appellations and the importance of terroir in North America.

Berger has been writing about wine since 1976. He was the full time wine columnist for the Los Angeles Times and nationally syndicated from 1988 to 1996 and has had a syndicated wine column since 1979. He has written on wine for a number of national publications and is the author of two books on wine. Berger is a judge at wine competitions across the globe and has been an organizer of wine competitions in America for 25 years. He has been honored by Wines and Vines Magazine as "Wine Writer of the Year," honored with the Father Junipero Serra Award for contributions to the wine industry, is the recipient of the "Wine Literary Award" from the Wine Appreciation Guild and has been honored by the Department of Viticulture and Enology at the University of California, Davis.
