Kassas, who has been an integral contributor to Cedar Point's six-year rise from startup to industry leader in the voice switching space, shared the award with Kenneth Solinsky, founder and president of Insight Technology, a developer of night vision equipment, at a gala event last night at the Center of New Hampshire Radisson Hotel in Manchester. Kassas also is eligible for the New England regional and National Entrepreneur of the Year competitions. A 25-year veteran of cable and telecommunications, Kassas founded Cedar Point in September 2000 to meet the cable industry's need for a simple, cost-effective telephony switch. Over the past six years he has helped to guide Cedar Point from startup to one of the leading players in the cable VoIP business, with customers throughout the United States, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean. In 2005, Cedar Point Communications shipped hundreds of thousands of voice lines and achieved its first profitable quarter.
