Cedar Point Communications Founder George Kassas Named Co-Entrepreneur of the Year by NHHTCDERRY, N.H., June 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Cedar Point Communications, Inc., the leader in integrated VoIP switching technologies for the cable industry, today announced that George Kassas, founder and executive vice president, business development of the company, has been named co-winner of the Entrepreneur of the Year by the New Hampshire High Technology Council. A 25-year veteran of cable and telecommunications, Kassas founded Cedar Point in September 2000 to meet the cable industry's need for a simple, cost-effective telephony switch. Over the past six years he has helped to guide Cedar Point from startup to one of the leading players in the cable VoIP business, with customers throughout the United States, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean. In 2005, Cedar Point Communications shipped hundreds of thousands of voice lines and achieved its first profitable quarter. In addition, the company made a significant contribution to the New Hampshire economy by adding more than 50 engineers to its staff, as it began to lay the groundwork for entry into the campus and institutional markets and its support of IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) architectures. As a member of the New Hampshire High Tech Council and of two Industrial Advisory Committees at New Hampshire Technical Institute, Kassas has been active in promoting the Granite State as a technology incubator. He also holds leadership positions in church and community activities. Kassas worked at Lucent Technologies prior to founding Cedar Point, leading the formation and establishment of the global business operations and e-commerce of the Lucent InterNetworking division and overseeing divisional marketing activities in Europe and the Middle East.
