NEC, CosmoCom sign distribution agreement for on-demand contact center(BNamericas.com Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)The Brazilian division of Japanese tech firm NEC (Nasdaq: NIPNY) has signed a distribution agreement with US contact center CosmoCom to sell its on-demand contact center platform, CosmoCom said in a statement. "NEC will sell the on-demand contact center platform as well as deliver design and post-sales support," said NEC do Brasil COO Herberto Yamamuro. "We don't expect significant numbers in the second half of the year [2006], but we expect the growth rate to be 40-50% of compound growth rate (CGR) next year," Yamamuro told BNamericas. NEC plans to target mid-sized telecoms operators in particular, with 50-250 employees, said Yamamuro, adding that mid-sized carriers generally cannot create their own contact centers. "Normally contact centers start from 100 positions or more, but this solution creates a center from 20," said Yamamuro. The solution is applicable to other industries however, and Yamamuro believes NEC do Brasil is looking at some 2,000 prospective customers. The platform is based on core IP technology, which will be cost-effective for users. "We are close to closing a deal with one carrier," Yamamuro said, without disclosing the name. Brazil is the largest contact center market in Central and Latin America (CALA), with more than half of the total, NEC said, citing research firm Datamonitor. |
