Nike and Apple recently launched a collaboration that introduces a line of Nike+iPod products. Nike-Apple (News - Alert) duo’s first invention will be the Nike+iPod Sport Kit, which gives Nike+ shoes the ability to wirelessly “talk” to an iPod nano.

“The sensor uses a sensitive accelerometer to measure your activity, then wirelessly transfers this data to the receiver on your iPod nano,” Apple explains on its website.

The Nike+iPod Sport Kit is slated for availability roughly two months from now, at Apple retail stores, authorized resellers, Niketown and NikeWomen stores, and at Nike.com.

The kit requires separate purchase of Nike+ shoes and an iPod nano.

“Nike+iPod is a partnership between two iconic, global brands with a shared passion for creating meaningful consumer product experiences through design and innovation,” Nike CEO Mark Parker said in a statement to the press.

Parker continued: “Nike+iPod will change the way people run,” Nike CEO Mark Parker said in a statement to the press.

Apple’s CEO, Steve Jobs (News - Alert), commented that: “The result is like having a personal coach or training partner motivating you every step of your workout.”
