CAMBRIDGE, Mass. --(Business Wire)-- May 25, 2006 -- WebLayers, the leading provider of policy-based governance solutions for strategic IT initiatives, today announced with deep regret the untimely passing of WebLayers' CEO, Mr. Irwin Wallach. Mr. Wallach passed away on Monday, May 22, 2006 near his home in Long Island, NY.
Irwin served as WebLayers' CEO since August 2005. Prior to taking WebLayers' leadership reins he served as General Manager and VP for Application Delivery in Mercury Interactive following Mercury's acquisition of Appilog, Inc., a New York based software company that Mr. Wallach headed as its CEO from inception. Prior to Appilog, Irwin built GENOSYS Technology Management, a leading IT services outsourcing and hosting firm into a global provider to Fortune 2000 organizations who were looking for a cost-effective way to manage their it infrastructures. The vision behind GENOSYS was developed by Irwin over his 20 year experience as a Managing Director of IT Services for Bankers Trust Company. While at Bankers Trust, Irwin was responsible for all elements of the Bank's global Telecommunications networks and large projects including the Engineering, Implementation and Operations functions for all of the Bank's offices worldwide.
"Irwin's death is a tragic loss for his family, as well as for everyone at WebLayers," stated Gregg Bjork, Sr. VP of Field Operations. "Irwin had a genuine passion for life and love for his family that was contagious to everyone around him and his legacy to me, the Board and his employees is substantial."
"With Irwin at the helm, WebLayers grew to be a strong company with solid financial footing and increased opportunities in our space," said Guy Loewy, Founder and CTO of WebLayers. "Irwin was one of those rare individuals who was an excellent leader as well as a true visionary in this industry. I will miss him greatly, as I know all who knew him will."
On an interim basis Gregg Bjork will serve as WebLayers' CEO, working with Founder and CTO Guy Loewy.
