iTunes Lead Saint Joseph College Recruiting Effort; College Offers Prospective Students Free Music Downloads

(Comtex Business Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)WEST HARTFORD, Conn., May 17, 2006 (Collegiate Presswire via COMTEX) --Saint Joseph College, Connecticut's only four-year women's college, has engaged Apple iTunes in a first-of-its-kind recruiting initiative to more efficiently distribute information to potential students.

Saint Joseph College sent letters to high school juniors across the Northeast inviting them to register on the College's Admissions Web site http://admissions.sjc.edu. As an incentive, the students receive a special code granting them three free iTunes downloads.

According to Alan Chesterton, associate vice president for Admission & Enrollment Services at Saint Joseph College, once the students register on the Admissions site, they will receive customized information from the College based on the interests they identified in their profile.

"We do not intend to send students spam or unwanted emails. We simply want to make it easier for prospective students to learn about the opportunities available to them at Saint Joseph College - ones that match their needs and interests," said Chesterton. "One of our biggest challenges within higher education admissions is to maintain up-to-date contact information for these prospective students."

Chesterton anticipates Saint Joseph College will begin to see responses from the letters beginning this week.

"We have yet to see a college or university in the United States utilize Apple's iTunes in their search strategy for prospective students," said Stephanie Geyer, executive consultant, Noel-Levitz, an enrollment management services firm. "It's a groundbreaking idea that should result in a significant response and strong inquiries for Saint Joseph College."
