Cops return champers to eBay scam suspect
(Sunday Mail Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)A WOMAN accused of running an international eBay scam has escaped prosecution.
Evelyn Noble, 22, faced more than 80 counts of fraud but police have now returned luxury goods seized during the two-year probe.
They include pounds 18,000 worth of Versace and Louis Vuitton clothing, Versace dinner sets and bottles of pounds 125 Cristal Champagne.
Noble was accused of selling non-existent mobiles to people across the world for up to pounds 250 each on the online auction site. But despite a flood of complaints from her alleged victims, she is not being taken to trial.
The Crown Office said yesterday: "There was insufficient evidence to proceed."
In January, Noble admitted trying to defraud the Yorkshire Building Society in Edinburgh of pounds 415,400 by passing a dud cheque.
Last month, we revealed she and her husband Justin, 22, had been kicked out of their flat in Paisley owing more than pounds 2400 in rent and unpaid bills.
