MOU to Boost China-Argentina Futures Exchange Cooperation

(SinoCast Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)DALIAN, Apr 19, 2006 (SinoCast via COMTEX) --Northeast China's Dalian Commodity Exchanges (DCE) recently signed a memorandum of understanding with Argentina's Rosario Futures Exchange (ROFEX) on cooperation in information sharing, new derivative products development and staff training.

ROFEX has early realized that the trade cooperation between China and Argentina, particularly the rising soybean trade between the two counties, would provide win-win cooperation opportunities on futures trade from both parties, said ROFEX chairperson Luis A. Herrera.

And DCE president also expressed that DCE should partner with South American futures exchanges to create a risk-avoiding platform for Sino-South American soybean businesses.

Established in 1909, ROFEX is one of the largest futures exchanges in Argentina, which operates soybean, wheat and corn trade at present, and it started local bond and foreign currency businesses from 2001.

Similarly, DCE also offers soybean, soybean meal and corn futures, which accounted for 61% of China's total traded volume of futures contracts in 2005.
