At least one killed in Nepal protest

(UPI Top Stories Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)A seven-party strong alliance against the king of Nepal plans to hold a massive rally Sunday despite the death of a protester at a pro-democracy rally.

The BBC reports militants have initiated strategic attacks in the west of the country while the capital Katmandu is under curfew.

The latest round of protests aimed at King Gyanendra was sparked 14 months ago when Gyanendra took power from the government. He said it wasn't doing enough to stop a Maoist insurgency.

More than 150 protesters have been arrested in a government crackdown during a four-day strike.

A rally scheduled for Saturday in the capital was pushed back to Sunday because of the curfew.
