Cherie Blair arrives in Pakistan on goodwill mission(Daily Post (Liverpool) Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)THE wife of Prime Minister Tony Blair arrived in Pakistan's capital, Islamabad yesterday on a week-long visit, the foreign ministry said. Cherie Blair met the wife of the country's president, General Pervez Musharraf, who had invited her to visit Pakistan, following her arrival, said a foreign ministry statement. She was also meeting Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz's wife, Rukhsana Aziz, during her six-day visit. She plans to spend most of her time raising funds for cancer patients and meeting survivors of last year's monster quake that killed over 80,000 people. She will also meet a group of professional women and attend the launch of a free legal aid service. A CINEMA production about the Prime Minister's response to the death of Princess Diana will feature actress Helen McCrory as Cherie Blair, with Tony Blair played - for the second time - by Michael Sheen. In one of the scenes, where he meets the Queen in their first private audience, Mr Blair tells his wife: "I'm actually rather nervous." She replies that they have met before - and reminds him that he's "just been elected by the whole nation". |
