Corporate Mobile Messenger, a secure enterprise Instant Messaging (IM) and Presence service, has been introduced by Digital Rum (dR), a company mobilising corporate communications.

According to Digital Rum, the service extends the Microsoft Office Live Communications Server 2005 to mass market mobile phones. It said the service, which was developed in cooperation with software company Microsoft, extends the Live Communications Server capabilities to mobile devices such as the Symbian Series 60, RIM BlackBerry and Java Micro Edition handsets.

Corporate Mobile Messenger supports one-to-one or one-to-many IM and voice collaboration and provides end-to-end security from the corporate domain through to the mobile phone. It can be used for more secure real-time collaboration between a mobile workforce and office-based colleagues, partners and third parties and will reportedly improve responsiveness and productivity levels.

Corporate Mobile Messenger is offered as a hosted service as part of Digital Rum's Mobile Customer Relationship Management application suite, and is available in the UK and the US for commercial use by enterprise customers.
