Macquarie Bank-backed property trust debuts on ASX at a premium

(Asia In Focus Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)SYDNEY, April 5 Asia in Focus - The MACQUARIE BANK-backed EUROPEAN INVESTORS GLOBAL PROPERTY TRUST (EIG)(ASX:EIG) has debuted on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) at a five per cent premium to its issue price. After a slow start following its listing at 1100 AEST, the units in the $A30.1 million ($US21.64 million) initial public offering (IPO) began trading at $1.05, above the $1.00 offer price.



* By 1314 AEST, it was up nine cents at $1.09 after retreating from an earlier high of $1.12.

* EIG was set up by the Australian investment bank to invest in listed property companies and trusts in Europe, North America and high growth Asian markets.
