Whaleback Systems Names John McCarthy VP of Sales
Seasoned Sales Exec to Lead Distribution Efforts for
Whaleback�s CrystalBlue Voice Service
PORTSMOUTH, NH, March 27, 2006 � Whaleback Systems� has appointed John McCarthy as vice president of sales, where he is responsible for scaling sales operations through both direct and indirect sales of Whaleback�s CrystalBlue Voice Service�, which provides Small and Medium Businesses (SMBs) with access to rich Voice over IP (VoIP) functionality that they can leverage via a simple broadband cable or DSL connection.
McCarthy is chartered with growing the internal sales organization and developing channel partnerships, and with driving the continued revenue growth for Whaleback. McCarthy has over 20 years of sales, marketing, management and customer support experience in the telecommunications industry. He previously served as vice president of sales for voice management products for Computer Associates (NYSE:CA:), where he had global responsibility for the successful launch of voice management products through the Concord Communications and subsequent Computer Associates direct and indirect sales channels. McCarthy previously served as CEO and president of Vitel Software, where his primary focus was to increase revenue and shareholder value by building the sales team, creating expanded market opportunities and leveraging strategic relationships with market-leading companies.
Previously, he was vice president of worldwide sales and business development at MetraTech, a telecommunications billing company, and before that he was vice president of North American sales for GeoTel, which was acquired by Cisco (Nasdaq:CSCO). He also draws on additional telecommunications and management experiences gained through employment with Rolm, IBM (NYSE:IBM), Sprint and Centigram. McCarthy is a graduate of Providence College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.
