Retail Systems Alert Group Extends Industry; Acquires Supply Chain Manufacturing & Logistics and Chief Supply Chain Officer Magazines
NEWTON, Mass. --(Business Wire)-- March 22, 2006 -- Retail Systems Alert Group (RSAG), a Proximus B2B company, and Helmers Publishing, Inc. of Dublin, New Hampshire, announce the acquisition-sale of Helmers Publishing's Supply Chain group. The group includes: Supply Chain Manufacturing & Logistics (SCML), a monthly publication; SCML's website, www.scml-mag.com; Chief Supply Chain Officer, a bi-monthly publication; SCML Buyers Guide (print edition); SCML Buyers Guide (online edition); Chief Supply Chain Officer Insights, an e-newsletter, Chief Supply Chain Officer's website, www.chiefsupplychainofficer.com; Supply Chain Pick of the Week, an electronic newsletter; and the Manufacturer-Retailer Connection Event.
"Several months ago we began exploring a partnership with the Retail Systems show for a co-exhibiting opportunity with our conference, the Manufacturer-Retailer Connection," said Steve Robbins, president of Helmers Publishing, Inc. "We realized as we worked together that both magazines as well as the conference aligned perfectly with meeting the goal of the Retail Systems show - to expand their reach into the front end of the manufacturing process."
For more than a year now, Retail Systems Alert Group has been extending best practices, conversations and leadership in retail, manufacturing, logistics, transportation, distribution, warehousing and solution provider organizations. Today, the Extended Retail Industry - a term coined in by the Retail Systems Alert Group - encompasses the end-to-end value chain. The acquisition of the Helmers Supply Chain group is just one of the many planned steps RSAG is taking to provide expanded coverage and educational opportunities to the entire industry.
"The addition of Helmers' Supply Chain group provides tremendous added value to Retail Systems Alert Group's constituents. Readers, subscribers, sponsors, attendees and advertisers who receive valuable unbiased, quality insights and analysis from ERI Journal, the voice of the Extended Retail Industry; Top of the Net newsweekly; webinars; research and Retail Systems annual Conference & Exposition, now gain new insights and added value with the addition of two formerly underserved sectors of the ERI," stated Kevin Condon, CEO of Proximus.
"The future of ERI companies depends in great deal upon the abilities of disparate component company participants to recognize the now interdependent nature of their survival. Due to advancements in technologies and subsequent utilization of these technologies by consumers a new roadmap is essential," noted Brian Kilcourse, RSAG Chief Strategist.
With the sale of the Supply Chain group, Helmers Publishing, Inc. is planning to expand into new markets and continue to build around its core magazine, Desktop Engineering (DE), and its ancillary products. Helmers custom publishing division continues to do well, and the conference program for DE is gearing up for the fall. There are several other ideas in the pipeline for magazine launches as well. "We are defining our company to meet our customers' needs as they change," continued Robbins. "They are telling us how their businesses are run and are fundamentally different than just a few years ago. By repositioning our company, we will meet their future needs."
This spring from May 21-24, 2006, in conjunction with the annual Retail Systems Conference & Exposition to be held at McCormick place in Chicago, attendees will have five other ERI co-located events to choose from: VICS Value Chain Vision Conference (including the Supply Chain Chiefs Summit), the Manufacturer-Retailer Connection, the Merchandising Innovation & Xcellence Summit, the Retail Data Security Forum and MobilityInStore.
