Families anbgry at fine and 3 year jail sentence for bus driver who caused fatal bus crash in Egypt

(IRN News Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)Families of the Australians killed in an Egyptian bus crash earlier this year say the sentence handed down to the bus driver is too lenient.

The 40-year-old was fined $365 dollars, and sentenced to 3 years in jail, for causing the crash that killed six Australians and injured 26 others.

Steve Sief was the Australian tour guide on the trip. His son Anthony says the driver deserved a harsher punishment.

He says it is a very light sentence which will disappoint the victims' families.

Mr Sief says because the case was not heard in an Australian court of law, they are unable to appeal the sentence.

Australia's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade says there will be an appeal over the guilty finding.
