Driver caught smuggling stolen vehicle into Iraq


(Kuwait Times Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)KUWAIT: Border security officials arrested a Pakistani truck driver after they discovered a four-wheel drive vehicle hidden in his refrigerated truck. During interrogation, he confessed that he smuggled cars into Iraq in cooperation with three Syrian expatriates and a Pakistan man living in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh. Police raided the homes of the men and arrested two Syrians and a Pakistani man. Police are hunting for the third Syrian man. They confessed that they had stolen five cars already and sold them to an intermediary in Iraq at half their market price.



Drugs seized in Ahmadi Ahmadi police arrested two Egyptian expats in connection with drugs after seeing their car drive erratically. Police confiscated a quantity of hashish. Also, Ahmadi police arrested two men under the influence of drugs near a petroleum institution in Ahmadi and confiscated from their car two pieces of hashish and five syringes. They were wanted for outstanding drug cases.

Bankcard stolen Mubarak Al-Kabeer police arrested a Kuwaiti man for stealing a bankcard. He confessed that he paid for several items such as telephone bills up to KD2000. Fruit thieves A security source revealed that five unidentified men broke into a vegetable and fruit store in Ahmadi and threatened the salesman with a pistol and stole KD400 in addition to some fruit. Police filed a case and started an investigation.


Bedoon mugged at knifepoint A bedoon man reported to Taima police that a man threatened him with a knife and stole KD50 from him after he gave him a lift in his car. Burglaries in Sulaibiya A Syrian expatriate reported to Sulaibiya police that an unidentified man broke into his house and stole KD800. Meanwhile, an Iranian expatriate reported to Sulaibiya police that someone broke into his house and stole KD 5,000. Two die in Saudi Two Kuwaiti men died in Saudi Arabia following a road accident. Saudi authorities reported the matter to Kuwaiti authorities. The victims' relatives asked for the deceased men to be buried in Saudi Arabia.

Citizen hits patrol car A Kuwait citizen allegedly under the influence of alcohol collided with a patrol car at a checkpoint. Police filed a case and referred the man to relevant authorities.

Car flips over A Kuwaiti woman was transferred to a nearby hospital following a road accident in Salwa in front of the police station. Her car flipped over after the woman lost control of the car. Kuwaiti accused of kidnap An expatriate reported to Ahmadi police that a Kuwaiti man kidnapped his 14-year-old daughter near Julaiya. Police rushed to the scene and arrested the man. A case was filed.

Bloodstained man Ahmadi police discovered a Bangladeshi expatriate seriously injured and covered with blood in front of a building in Fahaheel. Police transferred the victim to Adan Hospital and started an investigation.

Phone fraud Criminal investigators arrested three Asian expatriates in connection with selling equipment to use international call lines illegally. A case was filed and they were referred to authorities.

Love for sale Criminal investigators arrested four Bangladeshi expatriates and five Indonesian females in connection with prostitution. One of the Bangladeshi expatriates had been deported from Kuwait and then returned on a forged passport. A case was filed and they were referred to authorities.

Two held for hash Hawally police arrested a Kuwaiti man and Pakistani expatriate under the influence of drugs and for possessing an unlicensed gun in Salmiya. Police confiscated three pieces of hashish and referred them to relevant authorities.

Insult adds to injury A Kuwaiti and a Romanian girl were referred to Abu Halifa police after insulting a security man who did not allow them to enter a hotel because they refused to show him their IDs. Police later discovered they were under the influence of alcohol. A case was filed.
