Alekperov to visit Algeria next week(Interfax News Agency Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)MOSCOW. Feb 28 (Interfax) - Lukoil (RTS: LKOH) President Vagit Alekperov plans to visit Algeria next week, Alexander Vasilenko, director of the oil company's PR department, told Interfax. He said that company management plans to consider projects in Algeria. Vasilenko also said that Alekperov also plans to hold consultations with the Russian government in the near future concerning the expansion of the company's activities in China and in the Asia-Pacific region. He said that a visit by Alekperov to China has been tentatively planned for the end of March. In September last year Lukoil opened an office in Beijing. The office's main tasks are to prepare information and develop projects for cooperation between the Russian oil company and its Chinese partners in such areas as oil exploration and production, the development of oil industry infrastructure, oil refining, and sales. At the first stage the company plans to expand its commercial presence in China and in the region as a whole. rd |
