The9 City's Net Profits Up 196% on World of Warcraft


(SinoCast Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)SHANGHAI, Feb 27, 2006 (SinoCast via COMTEX) --The9 City Limited (Nasdaq: NCTY), an online game operator in China, reports net operating revenues of CNY 212.2 million for the fourth quarter of 2005, increasing 15% from previous quarter.

It posts net profits of CNY 68.3 million for the quarter, rocketing 81% quarter on quarter.

World of Warcraft (WoW), an online game developed by the US-based Blizzard Entertainment, is the main momentum for the robust growth.


WoW came into commercial operation in June 2005 in China and contributed net operating revenues of CNY 211.2 million to The9 City, growing 15% from the third quarter of 2005. By the end of December 31, 2005, The9 City had active paid users for WoW of 3.3 million.

The9 City reports annual net operating revenues of CNY 465 million for 2005, flying 1239% from a year earlier. The net profits hit CNY 72.5 million, jumping 196% year on year.
