IDC: 33% of providers offered VoIP in 2005(BNamericas.com Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)Research by US consultants IDC shows that 33% of internet providers in Brazil offered voice over IP (VoIP) and 17% of providers offered video on demand in 2005, Fabio Costa of IDC told a press conference. In the coming years, one of the main tendencies in the Brazilian market will be the growth of VoIP and video on demand. The expectation is that gradually more providers will participate in this market. In 2006, 67% of Brazilian providers will offer VoIP and 46% will offer video on demand. In 2007, 75% of providers will offer VoIP and 58% will provide video on demand, according to Costa. US networking equipment vendor Cisco Systems (Nasdaq: CSCO) commissioned the research by IDC, called Barometer of Broadband. |
