Mirage Networks Forms Alliance with McAfee's Foundstone Division to Deliver Best-in-Class Network Access Control Solutions
SAN JOSE, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- Feb. 13, 2006 -- Security companies collaborate to develop, market and sell integrated Foundstone Enterprise and Mirage NAC solutions
Mirage Networks(R), developers of award-winning Network Access Control (NAC) technology, and McAfee, Inc., the leading dedicated security technology company, today announced an alliance designed to increase the value proposition of the Foundstone scanning technology when integrated with Mirage's NAC solution. This offers customers a collaborative network security approach that delivers best-in-class vulnerability scanning and network access control capabilities.

With the increase in the varieties of network connection methods and the mobility of employees, the importance of having an "in depth" network defense has increased. According to Gartner, best-of-breed organizations only manage and control approximately 80 percent of the endpoints on their networks. The combined solution discovers the network, assesses policy compliance and threat posture across endpoints, enforces targeted vulnerability scanning for high risk or rogue endpoints, and quarantines non-compliant systems -- enforced both pre- and post-admission to the network.

"IT security will be able to control network access for all endpoints -- including those devices that have historically created the highest risk, but have been largely un-manageable."
Through the alliance, the companies have already developed and released an integrated solution, based on McAfee Foundstone Enterprise and Mirage NAC(TM) v2.3 appliances, that delivers vulnerability scanning and deeper policy checking at network entry and on-demand post-entry. Its unique behavioral technology continually monitors all devices on the network, and quarantine and remediation features enable the targeted scanning and cleaning of offending endpoints before they impact the network.
With this announcement, the companies are collaborating on selling and supporting the integrated solution through existing authorized Mirage and McAfee Foundstone channels.
In addition to employee cross-training, the companies are working with their respective channel partners to ensure customers can acquire the offering.
