ICBC's ATM Transaction Volume Exceeds CNY500bn(SinoCast Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)BEIJING, Feb 06, 2006 (SinoCast via COMTEX) --Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), the country's largest commercial bank, saw the money handled on its automated teller machines (ATM) hit a record high of CNY 515.3 billion in 2005, up CNY 181 billion year on year. ICBC officials told journalists that financial self-services are receiving rising favor from customers. Last year, the volume of ATM transactions topped 1.62 billion, 510 million more than the year-ago period, and the volume of interbank transactions were 128.05 million, up 39%. The E-banking operations in Beijing-based ICBC have accounted for more than one-fourth of the bank's total businesses. Over the past one year, ICBC intensified its efforts in improving ATM's functions and distribution, greatly boosting the utilization efficiency of such machines.
