MessageLabs Announces Appointment of Adrian Chamberlain as MessageLabs CEO; Managed Messaging Security Leader Continues Growth and Expansion


LONDON --(Business Wire)-- Feb. 1, 2006 -- MessageLabs, the leading provider of messaging security and management services to businesses today announced the appointment of Adrian Chamberlain as Chief Executive Officer of MessageLabs. Ben White, co-founder and formerly CEO of MessageLabs will become Chief Strategy Officer and Vice Chairman of the Board to focus on innovation, corporate strategy and client and partner relations for the company.

Today's announcement comes as the company seeks to further accelerate growth, product extensions and global expansion. For its financial year ending in July 2005 MessageLabs reported revenue of $67 million (GBP 36 million), its fifth consecutive year of annual growth in excess of fifty percent. Since year end MessageLabs has moved into profitability, increased its global presence and leadership position. The company has recently expanded its product portfolio beyond email security to include services for Web, instant message (IM) and message archiving to help businesses mitigate risks associated with messaging such as loss of confidential information, legal exposure, failure to enforce regulatory compliance or loss of business due to a virus or spam attack.

Adrian Chamberlain worked for Cable & Wireless for nine years in several leadership roles, culminating in his appointment to the main board in 2002. During his time there he managed the UK's largest cable TV, telephony and internet operation, launching the world's first digital cable TV service. He also spent eighteen months in Asia Pacific running the Consumer and Multimedia Division of Optus, a large telecommunications company. Prior to joining Messagelabs he was Main Board Director and CEO Europe for Lend Lease, a major construction, retail and property development company. Adrian brings a consistent track record of wealth creation, international expertise, technology management and public company board experience to Messagelabs. He is a graduate of both Cambridge University and the London Business School.
