TWO TOURISTS FLOWN OUT OF TONGARIRO NATIONAL PARK


(New Zealand Press Association Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)Wellington, Jan 28 NZPA - In separate incidents today, two tourists were airlifted from Tongariro National Park.

At 1pm, the Taupo-based Lion Foundation Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to pick up a 30-year-old German woman who suffered a suspected fractured ankle as she was on her way down from the summit of Mt Tongariro.

At 3pm, the helicopter was called to Ketatahi Hut to collect a 32-year-old English woman suffering from a medical condition.

Both tourists were flown to Taupo Hospital.
