The selection follows recent orders from Dubai-based Emirates, Qantas Airways and Singapore Airlines for their A380 training programs, Evans and Sutherland announced Monday. With 550 seats, the A380 is the world's largest commercial jetliner. The double-deck jet first flew in April. Commercial flights are expected to begin in late 2006 after 15 months of tests. Malaysian Airlines has ordered six of the super-jumbo jets. Evans and Sutherland's system is embedded in flight simulators made by Thales Training and Simulation Ltd., a business unit of Thales Group, France's largest defense contractor. "It's an out-of-window scene for the simulator. It would be all your takeoffs, your landings, the atmospheric effects. It has all the airport visuals," Evans and Sutherland spokesman LuAnn Jensen said. --Paul Beebe DEADLINE FOR TRAVEL MEET: Feb. 10 is the deadline for companies to register to participate in the 31st annual Mountain Travel Symposium, which will take place April 2-8 at Squaw Valley Resort in North Lake Tahoe.
