MEDCONX, a Pioneer in 'Smart' Proprietary Technologies Designed Specifically for Medical Systems, Has Just Received ISO Certification

SANTA CLARA, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- Sept. 22, 2005 -- Michael Viguerie, president and chief executive officer of MEDCONX, a leading developer of "smart" technology for minimally invasive medical devices, such as Smart Connector(TM), has announced that MEDCONX recently received the Certificate of Registration for ISO 13485:2003.

"We are particularly pleased that we've been certified through BSI Management Systems. BSI is a founding member of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), and is one of the leading international standards companies for testing, registration and certification in the world," Viguerie stated.

He added: "This certification validates our commitment to service the medical device marketplace and enables us to operate under the same ISO guidelines as our OEM customer base. We have built MEDCONX to operate as a medical device company, not just a parts or sub-assembly supplier."

MEDCONX has pioneered "smart" technologies designed primarily for medical device interconnect requirements by successfully adapting semiconductor manufacturing techniques into a line of proprietary products. This "market-driven" product line provides proven, cost-effective, custom engineered solutions that enable MEDCONX customers to reduce product assembly costs and improve manufacturing yields.

"One of the significant factors driving our success in the marketplace is that the majority of existing minimally invasive devices were not really designed for manufacturability and used whatever parts were commercially available to build the required interconnects for handpieces and cables," Viguerie explained. "We work closely with our OEM customers to provide them with solutions that will reduce their component costs and very definitely reduce their assembly costs. Additionally, our OEM customer base is also able to reduce on-hand connector and component inventory due to our short lead time manufacturing response.

"In many cases, we have provided the customer with the ability to move from expensive reusable cables to cost-effective disposable cables that satisfy the increasing clinical demand for a fully disposable system. MEDCONX is able to provide 'drop-in' replacements for existing interconnects, cables, and sub-assemblies that only require a 'letter to file.' This enables us to provide immediate support to the Cost Improvement Programs (CIP) that nearly all medical device companies have in place."

MEDCONX headquarters and design facilities are located in the Technology Park in Santa Clara, www.medconx.com.
