Investor and Entrepreneur Chip Meakem Joins Kodiak Venture Partners; Former DFJ Gotham Executive Brings Software and Investment Expertise
WALTHAM, Mass. --(Business Wire)-- Sept. 19, 2005 -- Chip Meakem has joined Kodiak Venture Partners, a seed and early stage venture capital firm focusing on communications/IT, semiconductor and software companies, as General Partner. In his new role with Kodiak, Meakem will help identify new investment opportunities and draw upon his entrepreneurial experience to lend his expertise to Kodiak portfolio companies. Meakem will focus on digital media, Internet advertising and other emerging technology opportunities.

Meakem brings ten years of operating and investing experience in information technology. He joins Kodiak from Draper Fisher Jurvetson Gotham where he was Managing Director and served on the boards of directors of ContextWeb, Massive Incorporated, Pantero and NanoOpto, and an observer to the board of Practical Engineering. Previously, Meakem served on the Boards of LiveAdvice, acquired by Ingenio, Q-Link Technologies, acquired by Adobe Systems (NASDAQ: ADBE) and Quantiva, acquired by NetScout Systems (NASDAQ: NTCT). Prior to entering the investment community, Meakem was Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships at N2K Inc. responsible for strategic distribution partnerships for the leading online music retailer. Before N2K, he was Vice President at Interactive Imaginations, the predecessor to 24/7 Media, Inc. At Interactive Imaginations, Meakem created, built and managed the Commonwealth Network, one of the Internet's first advertising networks. He earned a B.A in Liberal Arts from Cornell University and an M.B.A. from Columbia University.
