SEPATON Expands Asia Pacific Presence Through Two New Distribution Partnerships in Japan and Korea; New Agreements Confirm SEPATON's Focus on Meeting the Growing Demand for Data Protection Solutions in the Asia Pacific Market; New Customers Signed
MARLBOROUGH, Mass. --(Business Wire)-- Sept. 7, 2005 -- SEPATON, Inc., the emerging leader in non-disruptive, high-performance data protection solutions, today announced that Japan's Digital Technologies Corporation (DTC) and Korea's Sam Boo System Corp. have signed distribution agreements to resell SEPATON's data protection solutions in their respective regions of the Asia Pacific market, including its S2100-ES2 enterprise Virtual Tape Library (VTL). From Digital Technologies Corporation, Veritas Japan and a leading Japanese university have purchased the S2100-ES2 and from Sam Boo System Corp., Small Business Corporation of Korea has purchased the S2100-ES2.
This announcement follows SEPATON's entrance into Asia earlier this year through its distribution agreement with China's Beijing GrandRole Science & Technology Development Co., LTD.
"Data growth and productivity efficiencies have become increasingly important business drivers in a variety of industries and market sectors in the Asia Pacific region. This, coupled with the improved economic situation in the region, presents SEPATON with an opportunity to grow its current business," explained Mike Sutkowski, vice president of OEM sales for SEPATON, Inc. "We are pleased to have Digital Technologies Corporation and Sam Boo System Corp. represent our company in their respective markets and look forward to strengthening our global position in the worldwide data protection market."
Digital Technologies Corporation, based in Tokyo, Japan, has been in business since 1988. The company focuses on system integration of servers, storage, networking and security equipment. DTC found that SEPATON's appliance-based solution for solving pervasive backup and recovery challenges offers superior performance over other competitive offerings in Japan. With the continuation of storage consolidation and SAN storage growth, the market for Virtual Tape Libraries in Japan has significant potential. According to DTC, VTL is a natural evolution of established policies and procedures and leverages advances in disk-based technology.
Sam Boo System Corp., based in Seoul, Korea, has been in business since 1984. The company is focused on providing technology solutions in the areas of communications, storage networking and data acquisition. Sam Boo has been a pioneering provider of VTL solutions to the Korean market for over a year. "Based on our experience with several earlier VTL vendors, we've concluded that the SEPATON S2100-ES2 offers the best performance at a highly competitive price for enterprise-class customers in the Korean market," said Mr. Chulho Yoo, president, Sam Boo System Corp. "The Korean market is well-positioned to take advantage of the benefits of VTL to address our data protection requirements. SEPATON's appliance approach and scalable performance are very attractive to our customers."
