DISH Network First to Broadcast Sports Event via Interactive TV Mosaic

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. --(Business Wire)-- Sept. 6, 2005 -- EchoStar Communications Corporation (NASDAQ: DISH) and its DISH Network satellite TV service today announced an interactive mosaic that allows viewers to watch and choose six different camera angles during select sporting events. DISH Network will broadcast TBS College Football Extra each Saturday through Nov. 5 on its interactive TV channel DISH Home, CH. 100.

This marks the first time a pay-TV service provider has nationally broadcast a sports event in the United States with multiple camera angles and interactive capabilities. DISH Network customers can view any camera angle with full audio or go directly to the full screen channel they select. Angles include high end zone, low end zone, goal post, reverse slash, reverse low end zone, and the regular channel 139 TBS network feed.

DISH Network launched the technology with a broadcast of the Colorado State-Colorado game Sept. 3.

"TBS College Football Extra on DISH Home allows our viewers to take control of how they watch the game," said Jody Martin, senior vice president of Marketing for DISH Network. "DISH Home will influence the way people watch sports, reinforcing our goal to deliver Better TV for All."

DISH Network is the largest U.S. provider of interactive TV programs and the world leader in the number of interactive TV-enabled homes, with more than 20 interactive channels, serving over 10 million customers respectively.

The new features on DISH Home were developed in partnership with OpenTV Corp. (NASDAQ: OPTV), utilizing its interactive-TV middleware technology. DISH Network customers with the following OpenTV-enabled receivers can see the new DISH Home: Model 3900, 4900, DISH 111, 301, 311, 322, DISH Player -- DVR 501, 508, 510, 522, 721, DISH 811 and DISH Player-DVR 942.
