X-Pro TAPI Integrates VoIP with Outlook

BY JOHANNE TORRES

Global IP Telecommunications, a development partner of softphone manufacturer Xten Networks Inc., introduced the X-Pro TAPI, a TAPI (Telephony API)-compliant software telephone which can be integrated with Microsoft Outlook.

The companies announced that the X-Pro TAPI is "the result of continuous development of the X-Pro softphone, the award winning SIP telephone from the market leader Xten Networks."

"In contrast to other solutions, X-Pro TAPI supports real TAPI, which enables you to link professional Customer Relationship Management software with VoIP," says Sal Luzzi, CEO of Global IP Telecommunications, Inc.

The neat thing about this VoIP softphone is that it can be integrated to Microsoft's Outlook. With the X-Pro TAPI add-in in place, MS Outlook users are able to click to call any member on the user's Outlook contact list. This feature also enables incoming calls to be referenced against the user's contact list. The add-in provides the user with a caller ID feature which actually links the number back to the user's Outlook contact profile.

"The new product brings professional functionality to VoIP users, which has previously been reserved for large installations. The development was difficult, extremely time consuming and could only be accomplished through excellent expert knowledge and skills." says Michael Best, director of Global IP Telecommunications, Ltd. in Schoeffengrund, Germany. "The product opens the door to a new market segment for VoIP technology. It is very well received by our customers. To focus on quality and to program with highest diligence already pays fully off for us."

According to the company's news release, "X-Pro TAPI additionally features a frequently requested Programmers Interface. C++, DELPHI, .NET or VBA (e.g. MS Excel, Word or Access) developers can now enhance their applications with full X-Pro TAPI functionality within minutes." Developers can get their hands on the interface for $479.

Current users of X-PRO TAPI will be able to receive a free upgrade. The software and license keys may also be obtained as of today from the personal online accounts at the companys Web site. Customers who currently use the regular version of the softphone X-PRO from any source can obtain the upgrade for $24.95.

Xten Networks was recipient of TMC's Internet Telephony magazine's 2004 Product of the Year Award for its eyeBeam SIP softphone and SDK (software development kit).

"Each year Internet Telephony magazine bestows its Product of the Year awards on companies that have demonstrated excellence in technological advancement and application refinements," said Rich Tehrani, group publisher and editor in chief of Internet Telephony magazine back in January. "Xten has demonstrated to the editors of Internet Telephony magazine that its products or services are committed to quality and innovation while addressing the real needs in the marketplace."
