[September 02, 2005] Nova Engineering to Provide NovaRoam Mobile Routers for Hurricane Katrina Relief Effort Tweet CINCINNATI --(Business Wire)-- Sept. 2, 2005 -- Nova Engineering announced that it will provide NovaRoam(R) Mobile Routers free of charge to aid in the current Hurricane Katrina emergency response and relief efforts spearheaded by FEMA and the American Red Cross. NovaRoam's mesh networked solution provides real-time Internet Protocol (IP) data communications for rescue and relief workers in areas where critical telecommunications infrastructure has been debilitated or destroyed. NovaRoam's mobile ad hoc networking technology allows it to quickly create infrastructure-less wireless mesh networks in both fixed and mobile environments. Each NovaRoam, deployable in a vehicle or a fixed location, is able to communicate with its peers in a several-mile radius. This results in a peer-to-peer network capable of supporting high-speed data communications between remote emergency workers. Still images, text, and other forms of data could be quickly transmitted from emergency crews to operational centers to help facilitate swift, well-informed decision making. If your agency would like to join in this program with Nova Engineering, please contact Ryan Canning at 513-642-3197 or [email protected].
