Fourth PLX PCI Express Device Production-Released; PEX 8114 Bridge's Volume Availability Further Expands PLX PCI Express Market Leadership

SUNNYVALE, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- Oct. 26, 2005 -- PLX Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq:PLXT), the leading supplier of PCI Express(TM) (PCIe) and other standard input/output (I/O) interconnect silicon to the communications, server, storage, embedded control, and consumer industries, today announced that its ExpressLane(TM) PEX 8114 PCI Express-to-PCI-X bridge has been production-released. The PEX 8114 is the latest PLX(R) ExpressLane PCIe device to reach production level, making PLX the only vendor with four PCIe bridges and switches now available in volume.

High Speed, Small Package, Low Power Consumption, Forward/Reverse Bridging

The PEX 8114, featuring 800MB/sec. throughput speed, the industry's smallest package and lowest power consumption of any PCIe-to-PCI-X bridging device, joins the PEX 8111 bridge, and PEX 8516 and PEX 8532 switches in production. All four devices have completed extensive reliability, quality, functionality, and interoperability testing. Additionally, the PEX 8114 is on the PCI-SIG(R) Integrators List, having successfully completed and passed the special-interest group's rigorous interoperability and compliance tests.

The PEX 8114 enables a range of PCIe applications, including storage-system adapter boards, RAID controllers, server motherboards, and imaging and embedded systems. By utilizing the PEX 8114 in its forward-bridging mode, legacy PCI and PCI-X devices can be easily upgraded to interface with PCIe systems. Additionally, its reverse-bridging mode enables conventional PCI processors and chipsets to configure and control PCIe switches and endpoints, while add-in cards using the PEX 8114 in this mode bring the advanced features of PCIe-native silicon endpoints into the large installed base of PCI systems.

PLX at Forefront of PCIe Market

The production release of the PEX 8114 bolsters PLX's position as the leader in PCIe bridging and switching technology; with an unprecedented four PCIe switches and bridges now available, PLX supplies the broadest array of PCIe interconnect solutions. Furthermore, the configuration flexibility of these switches and bridges allows them to cover the widest range of applications in the market.

Designers may contact PLX for specific pricing on the PEX 8114.
