Wave7 Optics Named Top 'Rising Star' in Deloitte's Technology Fast 50 Program

ATLANTA, Oct. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Wave7 Optics Inc., a leading supplier of fiber-to-the-home and -premises (FTTH/P) broadband equipment for residential and business services, has been named a Rising Star in Deloitte's Technology Fast 50 program for Georgia. The Rising Star award is a special designation for fast-growth technology companies that have been in business just three or four years and is part of the Georgia Technology Fast 50 program, which ranks the 50 fastest growing technology companies headquartered in Georgia. Rankings are based on percentage revenue growth over three years (2002-2004).

"Broadband and, in particular, FTTP is the hottest sector in telecom over the last few years now and our innovative Last Mile Link and Trident7 systems, made possible by a team with unparalleled expertise in optical electronics, have enabled us to secure a leadership position in this highly competitive market, as evidenced by our worldwide customer engagements, healthy revenue growth and order backlog and a technology platform that will leapfrog the competition," said Tom Tighe, CEO of Wave7 Optics.
Wave7's increase in revenues of 2,744 percent from 2002 to 2004 resulted in the company being named the number one Rising Star award winner in the Technology Fast 50 for Georgia. The average increase in revenues over the past 3 years among companies named as Rising Stars for this region was 917 percent.
"The Deloitte Georgia Technology Fast 50 Rising Star companies have shown the strength, vision and temerity to succeed despite a very challenging technology environment," said Thomas McNulty, Partner, Deloitte & Touche LLP in Atlanta. "We applaud the successes of Wave7 Optics and acknowledge their place as one of the few to accomplish such a fast growth rate over the past three years."
To qualify for the Technology Fast 50 Rising Star program, companies must have had operating revenues of at least $50,000 in 2002 and $1,000,000 in 2004, be headquartered in North America, and be a "technology company," defined as a company that owns proprietary technology that contributes to a significant portion of the company's operating revenues; or devotes a significant proportion of revenues to the research and development of technology. Using other companies' technology in a unique way does not qualify.
Rising Star winners are automatically entered in Deloitte's Technology Fast 500 Rising Star category. Deloitte's Technology Fast 500 program ranks North America's top 500 fastest growing technology companies based on percentage revenue growth over five years (2000-2004). Its Rising Star ranking is based on percentage revenue growth over three years (2002-2004).
