Internet service provider Wanadoo UK, a subsidiary of telco France Telecom, says that it has in the last few days become the UK s number one VoIP provider by clocking up some 80,000 registrations for its Wireless & Talk broadband telephony service. These registrations have been accumulated in just over seven months. Wanadoo Wireless & Talk offers an integrated approach to communications, providing the broadband connection, telephony service and Livebox in one package. Customers pay a monthly fee for the service. Customers receive a secondary phone line on a dedicated Wanadoo Broadband connection. Evening and weekend calls to any UK landline are free, as are calls at any time to other Wanadoo Wireless & Talk users. Using the Wanadoo Livebox, customers can connect more than one PC to the internet and surf from around the home. Users can thus chat, surf, legally download and game simultaneously. Wanadoo has also revealed that in its local loop unbundled (LLU) areas, new customers will be able to receive a broadband service with a wireless broadband connection with speeds up to 8 Mbps and off-peak VoIP calls. |
