[November 16, 2005] Mobile Satellite Ventures and AnyData Corporation Announce Handset Development Agreement Tweet RESTON, Va., Nov. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Mobile Satellite Ventures (MSV) today announced an agreement to develop next generation handsets supporting both satellite and terrestrial cellular connectivity on MSV's hybrid wireless network. Under the agreement, AnyData will develop a complete component specification and evaluate and test components for a hybrid satellite/terrestrial L-band clamshell camera phone. The agreement follows MSV's successful demonstration of the key features of the hybrid network and technology, including handsets capable of supporting both satellite and cellular operations, a robust diversity-based network featuring two satellites and transmission of both voice and short messaging service (SMS) communications. This demonstration was performed using MSV's current generation geostationary (GEO) satellites in preparation for the development and launch of its next generation network. MSV is in the planning stages of similar demonstrations based on other technology platforms.
