Sphere Communications and MASERGY Certify SIP Trunking -- Enabling All-Software Enterprise IP PBX Solutions
LAS VEGAS --(Business Wire)-- Nov. 14, 2005 -- Sphericall IP PBX With MASERGY's SIP-Enabled inCONTROL Voice Service Reduces Telephony Hardware and Infrastructure Overhead in the Enterprise
Sphere Communications (www.spherecom.com) announced today an alliance with Masergy Communications, Inc. (www.masergy.com) and the certification of SIP trunking between the award-winning Sphericall IP PBX and MASERGY's inCONTROL Voice service.
SIP trunking, from the premise-based Sphericall IP PBX via MASERGY's inCONTROL Voice service, reduces the need for both PSTN media gateways and narrow-band voice circuits in the enterprise. Businesses deploying new VoIP telephony solutions realize the benefits of IP communications inside their organization but have been forced to convert to traditional narrow-band public switch telephone network (PSTN) connections when communicating outside their business.
"Now, enterprises will reap the benefits of SIP Trunking capabilities," said Don McCracken, Voice Channel Director at MASERGY. "Simplified management and lower costs are just the starting point -- this represents a major step toward the all-IP infrastructure for business."
By utilizing SIP trunking, businesses can now begin to eliminate IP-to-PSTN conversion from the enterprise; simplifying IP voice deployments, and lowering costs. The move to SIP trunking will position businesses to leverage rich, all-IP enhanced communications between organizations, such as across their supply chain, with business partners, and customers.
Sphere's Sphericall IP PBX, an innovative enterprise business communications platform for mid-sized and large organizations, provides full PBX functionality plus advanced IP communications capabilities deployed as an enterprise-class business software application.
"From a technology perspective, it has simply become illogical to convert IP telephony back to traditional circuit technology and lose all the value of enhanced IP communications," said Todd Landry, SVP at Sphere Communications. "SIP trunking will preserve this value -- it is a key component of our vision for open, all-software enterprise IP communications both inside and outside the borders of the enterprise."
