Envivio(R) Products Certified by ISMA Conformance Program are Part of Complete IPTV Triple Play Solutions

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Further ensuring interoperability within IP environments for streaming media solutions, Envivio Inc.'s MPEG-4 (including AVC / H.264) encoding systems have officially met test criteria established under the Internet Streaming Media Alliance (ISMA) Conformance Program. The program is the industry's first test suite designed to validate interoperability between products that implement end-to-end streaming solutions based on open standards. At TelcoTV 2005, in its booth #601, Envivio will be showcasing ISMA certified systems within a complete IPTV Triple Play solution and its real time MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 SD and HD encoding systems. Integrated triple play Envivio solutions optimize network bandwidth while providing high quality interactive services.

Envivio products conform to the ISMA specification which utilizes native IP streaming (Real Time Protocol, also known as RTP). This protocol provides the most efficient and flexible solution for real time streaming of video, audio and multimedia over IP networks, as well as avoiding otherwise costly MPEG-2 license fees for set-top boxes. Envivio solutions also support the MPEG-2 Transport Stream (MPEG-2 TS) protocol for compatibility with existing infrastructure deployments.
Envivio Demonstrates Triple Play Solutions for AVC/H.264 Television with Interactive MPEG-4 Middleware Portal at TelcoTV 2005
Envivio encoders, middleware and decoders combine to power IP applications for live television and video-on-demand (VOD) services. Envivio is an active member of the IPlay3 consortium that merges the market-leading technologies from Envivio, NetCentrex, and Highdeal into flexible and cost-effective Triple-Play solutions. A demonstration at TelcoTV 2005 features an AVC/H.264 residential set-top box supporting MPEG-4 Part 11 (also known as Binary Format for Scenes) player and an integrated VoIP telephone client portal. Video is transported using Envivio standard definition broadcast encoders and interactive streaming servers. Video services are managed using an Envivio application server and client portal. Operators can deploy end-to-end Envivio solutions or mix and match Envivio systems with other products from open standards-based vendors as they enhance their networks to offer IPTV services.
4Caster HD3 System Delivers Real Time AVC/H.264 Encoded HD Stream at 6 Mbps
Also showcased at TelcoTV 2005 is the Envivio 4Caster HD3 system which delivers industry leading picture quality at HD resolutions up to 1080i and supports a wide range of output, encapsulation and file formats. The HD3 system will be displayed encoding real time feeds in AVC/H.264 at six megabits per second. The HD3 is based on hardware supporting both blade and one rack unit (1 RU) formats, providing the highest available degree of flexibility and quality for telco and broadcast applications. Like other 4Caster Broadcast Series encoders, the HD3 implements specific algorithms developed and refined by Envivio to support real time encoding as well as store and forward capabilities.
Envivio Promotes Open Standards Based Solutions within ISMA's IPTV Workgroup
To further promote open standards-based solutions within the IPTV market, the Internet Streaming Media Alliance (ISMA) has formed an IPTV workgroup. Envivio is an active member of this workgroup whose goals are to monitor developing standards or specifications for deploying an IPTV system, to create an interoperability conformance program for IPTV and to promote solutions that pass conformance testing. Visit http://www.isma.tv/ for more information about the alliance, the IPTV workgroup and the conformance program.
